What better way to celebrate these long, long summer days than hanging out in Dufferin Grove Park writing love letters to the city…
I decided to make huge over sized airmail envelopes to hang from the tree (and miraculously it didn’t rain!)
I do so love meeting folks who write their love notes, and LOVE finding out what they love about our city, but one of my favourite things about this incarnation of the project is hanging out with dear, dear friends for hours on end (and wearing matching aprons!!) Mairead and I (above) went to dance school together a million years ago. She’s a brilliant performer and inspires me to no end.
More be-aproned love with the extraordinary Zahra, who found a love letter five years ago tied to her bike, and found me this spring from the DNTO interview I did on CBC. You can read her love letter finding story here. It was a beautiful, brilliant full circle moment indeed.
ps: I’ve realized that in the photos of me from this summer’s love lettering events, I’m smiling so hard I look a little crazed, but that’s what this project does to me – makes my heart full to the brim and makes me smile so hard my cheeks hurt. Best.
